Frequently asked questions
Here you can find answers to common questions about ARTEFACT products, designs, sizing, made-to-order production, shipping, returns, and artefact sources.
ARTEFACT is a small independent detectorist streetwear brand built around real finds, real places, hidden history, and field culture.
What is ARTEFACT?
ARTEFACT is a detectorist streetwear brand built around real finds, real places, hidden history, and field culture. The idea is simple: create serious apparel for people who value the story more than the trophy.
Who creates the designs?
ARTEFACT is created by Vasyl Sheremet, a graphic designer and metal detecting enthusiast based in the Czech Republic. The designs are developed from a detectorist’s point of view — with respect for history, field culture, and the objects that come out of the ground.
Is ARTEFACT just another print-on-demand T-shirt shop?
No. ARTEFACT uses print-on-demand fulfilment, but the brand itself is built around original design concepts, real artefact sources, and a clear detectorist identity. The goal is not generic hobby merch, but a stronger visual language for metal detecting and hidden history.
Are the designs based on real finds?
Many ARTEFACT designs are inspired by real recorded artefacts, including finds documented by the UK Portable Antiquities Scheme. When a design is based on a specific recorded object, source and attribution details are included on the product page.
Are all designs based on one specific artefact?
No. Some designs are based on specific recorded finds. Others are inspired by detectorist culture, field gear, treasure hunting, search rituals, or the wider idea of hidden history.
What does “real recorded find” mean?
It means the artefact has been documented in a public record, usually with details such as object type, material, date, region, and find reference. ARTEFACT uses those records as inspiration for selected designs.
Are PAS, museums, councils, or rights holders endorsing ARTEFACT?
No. Where artefact images or records are used, ARTEFACT provides source and licence information where relevant. No endorsement by the Portable Antiquities Scheme, museums, councils, rights holders, or record holders is implied.
Can I use ARTEFACT designs or artwork?
No. ARTEFACT designs, layouts, edited artwork, product concepts, and brand presentation are original creative work and may not be copied, reused, or resold without permission.
How should I choose my size?
Please check the size guide before ordering. Measurements are usually shown as flat garment measurements. For the best fit, measure a T-shirt you already own and compare it with the product measurements shown in the guide.
Are the T-shirts unisex?
Yes. Current ARTEFACT T-shirts use a unisex fit. Please check the size guide carefully, especially if you are comparing it with fitted or women’s sizing from other brands.
Should I size up?
If you are between sizes or prefer a looser fit, consider choosing one size up. US customers may also prefer to order one size up, as EU sizing for this supplier may correspond to a smaller size in the US market.
Can product measurements vary?
Yes. Product measurements are provided by suppliers and may vary by up to 2" (5 cm).
What T-shirt blank do you use?
Current ARTEFACT T-shirts are printed on premium organic cotton garments, with product details listed on each product page. The main T-shirt used in the current range is the Stanley/Stella Creator 2.0 or equivalent product information shown on the product page.
How should I wash the T-shirt?
Wash inside out at 30°C with similar colours. Use a mild detergent. Do not bleach. Avoid tumble drying if possible. Do not iron directly over the print.
How can I make the print last longer?
Wash the garment inside out, avoid high heat, and do not iron directly over the printed area. Hang-drying is recommended for longest life.
What does “made to order” mean?
Each ARTEFACT item is printed after your order is placed. This means the product is not mass-produced or kept in stock in advance. It is made specifically for your order.
How long does production take?
Most Printful products are produced within 2–5 business days. Production includes printing, quality checks, and packing before the order is shipped.
Please note that production time does not include shipping time.
Why is my item not shipped immediately?
Because each item is made to order. Your order first goes through production, then it is handed over to the shipping carrier.
In most cases, fulfilment is completed within a few business days, but production times can be affected by product type, print method, order volume, stock availability, and peak seasons.
Who prints and fulfils the products?
ARTEFACT works with Printful as its professional print and fulfilment partner. Production location may vary depending on the product, destination, stock availability, and fulfilment routing.
What print methods are used?
Most current ARTEFACT T-shirts use DTG printing. Some designs may use DTF printing where it better suits the artwork. Product pages may include print method notes where relevant.
How is the estimated delivery time calculated?
Estimated delivery time = production time + shipping time.
ARTEFACT items are made to order, so the total delivery time includes both the time needed to produce the product and the time needed for shipping.
How long does shipping take?
Shipping time depends on the destination, fulfilment location, selected shipping method, and carrier.
As a general guide after fulfilment:
• UK orders shipped from European locations with Standard DDP may take around 3–7 business days.
• International standard shipping may take around 5–20 business days.
• Express shipping, where available, may take around 1–3 business days after fulfilment.
Available shipping methods may vary depending on the product and destination.
When will my order arrive?
Most orders are produced within 2–5 business days. After production, shipping time is added depending on your destination and selected shipping method.
For many UK orders, the total estimated delivery time is often around 5–12 business days, including production and shipping. This is an estimate, not a guarantee.
The estimated delivery date shown at checkout or in order updates is the best guide for your specific order.
Will I receive tracking?
Where tracking is available for the selected shipping method, tracking details will be sent by email after dispatch.
Why can delivery take longer than expected?
Delivery can be delayed by carrier disruptions, weather, customs processing, missed delivery attempts, product stock issues, or busy peak seasons.
If your order is past the estimated delivery date, please check the tracking link first. If there are no updates for several days, contact ARTEFACT with your order number.
Can I return my order?
Because each item is printed to order, please check the size, colour, and design carefully before purchase. Returns for change of mind may be limited depending on the product and applicable law. Your statutory rights are not affected.
Can I exchange for another size?
Because items are made to order, size exchanges may not always be possible. Please check the size guide carefully before ordering.
What if my item arrives damaged, misprinted, or incorrect?
Please contact ARTEFACT as soon as possible with your order number and clear photos of the issue.
If the item is damaged, misprinted, or incorrect, the case will be reviewed and handled appropriately with the fulfilment partner.
What if my order is late or seems lost?
First, check the tracking link from your shipping confirmation email. Tracking updates can sometimes appear with a delay, especially for international shipments or final-mile delivery.
If the estimated delivery date has passed and there are no useful tracking updates, contact ARTEFACT with your order number so the issue can be reviewed.
What should I include when contacting you about an order?
Please include your order number, the email used for the order, a short description of the issue, and clear photos if the question concerns damage, print quality, or an incorrect item.
Why do some product pages include source and licence information?
Some ARTEFACT designs use or are inspired by images and records made available under open licences. When relevant, attribution and source details are included on the product page.
What is the Portable Antiquities Scheme?
The Portable Antiquities Scheme is a public recording scheme for archaeological objects found by members of the public in England and Wales. Some ARTEFACT designs are inspired by objects recorded in this database.
Does ARTEFACT own the original artefacts shown in the designs?
No. ARTEFACT does not own the original archaeological objects. The brand creates original design layouts and visual concepts inspired by recorded artefacts, field culture, and historical sources.
Does attribution mean endorsement?
No. Attribution is provided to credit the relevant source, author, rights holder, or licence where required. It does not mean that the source, rights holder, museum, council, or recording body endorses ARTEFACT or its products.
Do you offer wholesale or trade orders?
ARTEFACT is open to selected wholesale, event, club, and collaboration enquiries. Please contact us with a short description of your shop, club, event, or project.
Can ARTEFACT work with detecting events or clubs?
Yes. ARTEFACT can discuss prize support, selected designs, event-related ideas, or collaboration models where there is a good fit with the detectorist community.
Can I request a custom design?
At the moment, ARTEFACT focuses on its own collections and selected collaborations. Custom requests may be considered where they fit the brand, the subject, and the legal use of source material.
