A genuine Anglo-Saxon copper-alloy buckle frame, discovered by a metal detectorist in Suffolk, England, and recorded by the UK Portable Antiquities Scheme.
This ARTEFACT design turns a real early-medieval buckle frame into a bold museum-meets-streetwear piece for people who value the story more than the trophy.
THE STORY BEHIND THE FIND
This buckle frame dates to the early Anglo-Saxon period, c. AD 450–550. The PAS record describes it as a cast copper-alloy buckle frame with a D-shaped form, a narrowed rectangular bar, and a broad rectangular pin rest.
The front face carries extensive chip-carved decoration, including stylised zoomorphic motifs related to Salin’s Style I, raised borders, and beaded detailing. The object has a dark green patina, with pale green copper-alloy corrosion visible in places — especially on the decorated surfaces.
THE DESIGN
Built in the “A Fragment of Time” format, the print combines a large central artefact image, a technical grid background, catalogue-style data panels, a UK PAS find ID, and the vertical detectorist mark:
“FOUND WITH A METAL DETECTOR”
