A genuine Roman silver denarius of Augustus, discovered by metal detector in Kent, England, and recorded by the UK Portable Antiquities Scheme.

This ARTEFACT design turns a real archaeological find into a bold museum-meets-streetwear statement for people who value the story more than the trophy.

THE STORY BEHIND THE FIND
This silver denarius of Augustus dates to the period 2 BC–AD 9. It was struck at the mint of Lugdunum and belongs to the Gaius and Lucius reverse type. The obverse shows the laureate head of Augustus facing right, while the reverse depicts Gaius and Lucius standing front, each togate and resting a hand on a shield, with spears behind them.

The coin formed part of a wider group of Roman silver coins and related finds discovered across ploughsoil by members of a metal-detecting club. The group was considered under the Treasure Act and later returned to the finder when a museum was unable to acquire it.

THE DESIGN
Built in the “Where Earth Keeps Legends” format, the print combines a period header, catalogue-style information panels, a UK location marker, and the detectorist badge:
“FOUND WITH A METAL DETECTOR”

Printed slogan on the design:
“A FRAGMENT OF THE EMPIRE — A SILVER DENARIUS OF AUGUSTUS — ETERNITY, RECORDED IN SILVER”
