A genuine Roman silver denarius of Septimius Severus, discovered by a metal detectorist in Hoober, Rotherham, England, and recorded by the UK Portable Antiquities Scheme.

This ARTEFACT design turns a real recorded coin into a museum-meets-streetwear piece for people who value the story more than the trophy.

THE STORY BEHIND THE FIND
This silver denarius dates to c. AD 201, during the reign of Septimius Severus. It was struck in Rome and belongs to the Roman Imperial period. The obverse shows a laureate and bearded portrait of Septimius Severus facing right. The reverse carries the legend FVNDATOR PACIS and depicts Severus standing left, togate, holding a branch and scroll.

The coin measures 18.6 mm in diameter, is 2.6 mm thick, and weighs 2.1 g. The edge is damaged between approximately 12 and 3 o’clock, but the piece remains a strong and highly recognisable Roman silver issue.

Discovered on cultivated land by metal detector and later recorded with the PAS, this is a real find from Roman Britain with a clear historical identity and a direct connection to the landscape that preserved it.

THE DESIGN
Built in the “A Fragment of Time” format, the print combines a bold title, central coin artwork, technical measurements, a UK location marker, a vertical detectorist badge, and a structured catalogue-style data panel.
