A genuine Anglo-Saxon gold coin pendant made from a solidus in the name of Maurice Tiberius, discovered by a metal detectorist in Hoath, Kent, England, and recorded by the UK Portable Antiquities Scheme.

This ARTEFACT design turns a real early-medieval pendant into a strong museum-meets-streetwear piece for people who value the story more than the trophy.

THE STORY BEHIND THE FIND
This remarkable object dates to c. AD 582–602 and represents an Anglo-Saxon pendant made from a gold solidus in the name of Maurice Tiberius. The PAS record describes it as a converted coin with a ribbed suspension loop soldered above the emperor’s head, an attached filigree border, and a large gold pellet added above the bust.

It is not just a coin, but a transformed object — imported power turned into personal ornament in early medieval England. The original solidus belongs to the Gallic pseudo-imperial series, probably issued in what is now southern France, and later adapted into an Anglo-Saxon pendant.

The object was declared Treasure and acquired by the British Museum Coins and Medals department.

THE DESIGN
Built in the “Where Earth Keeps Legends” format, the print combines a bold period header, catalogue-style information panels, a UK location marker, and the detectorist badge:
“FOUND WITH A METAL DETECTOR”

Printed slogan on the design:
